Fall is here, for the Hudson Valley! Ad the colors are finally beginning to come to life. The first frost of the year has come and gone, and that marks the start of the truly gorgeous colors starting for the season. The full palate of colors is arriving. And, even though the fall colors are arriving late this year, they are as beautiful as ever! These next few weekends before the end of October are the rime weekend to come and see the fall foliage in Ulster County!

There are many scenic roads Through out Ulster County and the Hudson Valley. If you are coming up from the city, a suggestion, rather than taking the thruway, tries taking one of the slower, but more picturesque routes up to the area. There is the Taconic State Parkway, which weaves throughout Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties. You will pass through state parks and naturally wild areas. Or travel up route nine, and pass through all the quaint towns New York has, or take an off shoot like Bear Mountain Parkway! No matter what way you take to get here all the fall gold, red and orange will be there to greet you!

Once you get to Ulster County, there are plenty of things to do for the fall. Go pick pumpkins, apples, or enjoy so cider and donuts! But, you will want to tour the area, and see al the colors exploding before your eyes! If you are going to the Catskills, there are some recommended routes to go. Try going on Route 212 or Glasco Turnpike through Woodstock, and enjoy the Catskills, and all the shopping, restaurants and thing to do Woodstock has to offer. Or if you are in Saugerties, try taking Route 32 North or South and weave through the charming towns of Kingston, Rosendale and New Paltz, going south. In the Catskills you will be able to enjoy the full range of fall color, from deep reds to bright yellows!

If you are coming up to Kingston, try taking 209 through Stone Ridge, Hurley, Accord ,Kerhonkson and Ellenville. The Roundout Valley the brighter golds and oranges will be vibrant hues you see! You can enjoy all the New England types of towns in the Roundout Valley as well! Take 213 down through Rosendale, and 32 South to New Paltz, you can see the shimmering yellow beginning to take hold of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. Enjoy some Hiking in Minnewaska State Park, and walk beneath his canopy of fall colors! Traveling along 9W south, you can go through Highland, Marlboro, Milton and Modena. Enjoy pumpkin and apple picking, the take a detour for some wine tasting! In those areas you can see mixes of red and orange with some green still left over. Driving up 9W North through Esopus, Kingston and back through Saugerties, you can see he gorgeous views o the Hudson surrounded but fiery reds and oranges!
